Camp Eberhart, Three Rivers, Michigan

Picture
Camp Eberhart, in Three Rivers, Michigan, has a chapel with a bell tower and a lovely inscription:

"The Book of God lies round you everywhere!
the scent of rose, the crickets' chirp, the sweep
Of Field and lake and sky - are pages all
On which He writes.  Go forth, the night is fair;
And harken your soul until the call
To live and serve has waked you from your sleep"

     -- Frank Earl Hering

If you look to the right of the tower and past it, you can see one of the walls in the Cy Reed Memorial Garden.  To the right is the wall closest to Corey Lake, where campers will pass by most often. The inscription there is equally inspiring, especially for campers!

"Challenge Yourself and
Others to Try New Things"

The Cy Reed Memorial Garden Dedication

Cy's family and friends dedicated the Cy Reed Memorial Garden on July 19, 2014 on a beautiful day on Corey Lake.  YMCA Camp Eberhart went to great effort to complete the structure and landscaping before the dedication service, and participated in the dedication before hosting us as guests for dinner!  We enjoyed a wonderful meal that exceeded any "camp food" the adult generation had ever experienced at any summer camp many years prior.  Former Eberhart campers from age 23 to 88 years old were present!
Cy's ashes were sprinkled before the wall with his plaque on it - the wording is in the photo at the left
The back wall of the bell tower is on the right; Corey Lake lies straight ahead. The Garden walls are at the left.
The chapel set up for the dedication of the Cy Reed Memorial Garden.
